The Human Story - We Find Each Other: thoughts and reflections

Columbus' legacy of discovering what he thought to be the indies, China, and Japan is controversial for a few reasons. For one thing Columbus was not the first white man to step foot on his discovered continents. With Columbus' discoveries, the fact of him making contact with these new continents which later spread the colonization of those areas can be taken into account. For the native people living in those areas, the takeover of their culture by the white men was not a great thing. So, the legacy of Columbus can be taken as good or bad depending on one's point of view.
